Sub Plans for OpenSciEd

Original price was: $15.00.Current price is: $10.00.

Are you struggling to figure out what to leave for a sub when you are out? In OpenSciEd, it’s hard because the lessons are not easy enough to leave for a sub to teach and you don’t want to leave readings and things that might “give away” what students are supposed to discover later on. With that in mind, I have created some sub plans based on OpenSciEd routines and processes, rather than content. Students will use their science notebooks, progress trackers, the class DQB board, Related Phenomenon Poster, and Ideas for Investigations Poster as well as new phenomenon images to practice questioning, observing, citing evidence, planning investigations, and more!

This EDITABLE Google Slides product includes:

  • Student choice board with 12 activities to choose from
  • Worksheets for each of the 12 activities
  • 30 phenomenon images
  • Separate instructions for classroom teacher, substitute teacher, and students

You will be able to use these plans multiple times throughout the year! it can become your classroom routine when you have a sub!

Note: There is no “answer key” because there are not really right or wrong answers to most of the activities. These activities focus on honing skills, so if you want to “grade” these, I would focus on participation and giving feedback.

“I loved this resource to implement OpenSciEd in my classroom. Everything is right there and nicely organized. No mid unit copying on my part. No prep and wondering what I should print. Love this resource and will definitely purchase the other units and recommend it to others.”
